Beautiful HeartWork!

And the Heart's work is...
LOVE! That's what this beautiful Swarovski crystal heart has to say...

I try first to connect with my heart before I leap into a project or make contact with others.
The heart feels, understands, knows, fills everything with Love. It is a sure guidance system that never wrongs me. Hearts are my favorite symbols and I like to collect inspiring images that illustrate Love's magnificence. Even if you don't have a Valentine sometime soon, feel the depth of your heart and you will be amazed at the treasures you carry. "Love inspires, illumines, designates and  leads the way." Mary Baker Eddy

I just love this little wallet!

The Becky Thatcher Jewelry Designs

 Bracelet base with exchanging Stone tops

Opal and Chrysocolla Earrings

Pearl Necklace

 3X Gold magnifying glasses with handles made from Leelanau cherry pits in resin with crushed turquoise

Opal Botanical Pin

 Watches carved from Lake Michigan Beachstones.

I am grateful to be friends with Becky and her husband, David. I consider them "family." My husband, Mark, and I have broken bread many times with them here in St Louis. I admire Becky's work. She is an inspiration for me, fueling my own heart to higher heights of design. All of Becky's jewelry I own is precious, and I get lots of complements when I wear them. I strongly recommend her bracelet series with the exchanging tops—they are so elegant and beautiful!

Inspired by the earth, water, skies and wildlife of her lakeside home, Becky has always been drawn to shapes and colors of local beach stones. To visually capture the essence of northern Michigan, she paints "picture" necklaces, bracelets and earrings incorporating these distinctive stones.
Becky Thatcher's designs combine the natural textures of stone, the colorful depths of faceted gems and the luster of pearls with silver, high karat gold and platinum. Appreciating each stone for its inherent beauty, Becky personally selects exceptional gemstones, such as tourmaline, boulder opal, fancy sapphire, tanzanite, rutilated quartz and beryl from Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Bangkok. Globally, she collects outstanding stones from artists' lapidaries and gemstone beads, both ancient and modern, to convey stories of the different cultures and locales.

It is Time for Art!

It is perfect timing to talk about time since everybody in the beginning of the New year measures TIME. Time to organize, time to eat healthier, time to de-clutter, time to be more focused, time to spend more time with our loved ones... To me, it is time for Art and having fun! When we do what we love, we lose the sense of time because we live in the timeless present. And as I grow I learn that the only real time is the "NOW".
So take your time to feel and be in the "NOW" and get some inspiration about artistic time-works, and -who knows- maybe you can create your own masterpiece...

  "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
  A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain   from embracing;
  A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
  A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
  What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
  I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
  He hath made every thing beautiful in his time."
Eccl 3:1-11

BTW: "The power of NOW" by Eckart Tolle, is in the very top list of my favorite books. It is life changing and
I would recommend it to anyone I know!

The Blessing Basket Project

Way back when the Katrina hurricane happened my husband Mark and the kids volunteered one Saturday to go and help a group in Illinois that was  loading clothes on a barge headed down the Mississippi for the hurricane victims in New Orleans. They supposedly got good directions but when they got to the place no one was there. As they were asking around for information, they accidentally discovered the "Blessing Basket" warehouse and the amazing story behind it. Ever since I am a "Blessing Basket" fan, and I have enjoyed  supporting its mission. The baskets are all exquisite and practical but the most important part is that they feed and bless hundreds of the third world poor families. I so much admire Theresa for her courage to move on with her heart's call, and I wish that all of us somehow would follow her example. I am so grateful that my family stumbled on her warehouse... Let's change the world ONE BASKET AT THE TIME!

Floor Screens and Room Dividers

I love using floor screens to create a unique and artful effect in a room. I especially like to use them as huge pieces of art that bring height and design interest. I also have fun creating screens out of fabric with beautiful patterns and colors. In fact I'm thrilled to know that Vanguard Furniture created a custom program of personalized screens in different shapes and materials--we are going to have lots of fun!
Folding screens are a stylish and affordable way to divide your room--that's why they are  called room dividers. They increase your privacy and can bring a flavor of class to your home or office. They are a beautiful way to instantly hide clutter, create privacy, and give height to a space. They are ideal for dorm rooms, bedrooms and other areas that need dividing or privacy solutions. They're also useful for creating separate spaces in a shared home office. Or they can be just decorative behind a sofa or even used as a unique window treatment.
Whether traditional or contemporary, new or antique, introducing a screen will add texture and movement in any room. They exist in a variety of materials like wood, canvas, painted panel, latice work, mirrored panels, leather, metal, bamboo and pretty much anything else you can imagine.

Storage:The Artistic Put Away

Now that we are all in the organizing mood, I thought it would be fun to start with an art project that will keep things organized and at the same time will be creatively beautiful!
Here are some thoughts to transform any piece of storage furniture to a fun masterpiece. Pastel or bold, romantic or whimsy, just grab your favorite colors and let your imagination run...
